Our Youth Projects

Erasmus+ is the European Commission's Programme for education, training, youth and sport and offers opportunities for mobility of learners and staff.

With the support of this programme, InterAktion organizes youth projects in the field of human rights, youth policies, integration of the young people from migrant families and refugees, aiming to encourage intercultural dialogues between the people from different backgrounds and cultures through non-formal educational methods. The organisation promotes active citizenship and voluntarism among the young people in Styria, and contributes to the self-development and the inclusion of the marginalized groups and youth at risk.

Youth exchanges (YE) are open to participants between the ages of 13 to 30 and allow groups from different countries to meet, live together and work on shared projects for short periods. Youth exchanges last between 5 and 21 days.

Training Courses (TC) are the projects for the mobility of youth workers and support the professional development and network of youth workers.

Projects organized and implemented by InterAktion aim to encourage young people to become active and responsible citizens, take part in shaping a more equal and sustainable world and to develop a sense of appreciation of cultural diversity, affirmation of social justice and human rights, as well as building peace.

February 10-18, Trofaiach, Austria
This project was designed as a training course for youth workers, youth leaders and young activists to improve their work when educating young people on cultural diversity, participation and active citizenship having the European dimension and the European union as the peace project in the focus.
Together with our external partner Verein Sozialprofil (Pathersie für Europa), we have developed a 8 day training course, during which participating youth workers were introduced to different methods (including theatre/drama, outdoor activities, dialogue events, activities enhancing creativity) in youth work.
25th of May - 3rd of June, Trofaiach, Austria
The mission of “Art in Action” was to empower young people to overcome fears and obstacles by giving them the chance to prove to themselves and others that they are able to define their talents, skills and competences and use them. Moreover, the project encouraged participants to make conscious decisions about their personal and professional development in the future.
The project brought together 40 young people from Austria, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Poland, Spain and even refugees from Syria and Afghanistan, using the universal language of art while addressing social problems. It promoted diversity, intercultural dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights as well as equity and inclusion.

Traning Course in Austria, 16th - 22nd of June 2018

Youth Exchange in Slovenia, 8th - 16th of July 2018

An upgrade of last year’s project “Living SustainAbility”. Based on the principles of non-formal education methods participants from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Spain, UK and Austria were  discovering interdependencies between the economic, social and environmental sustainability. Youth workers were exchanging best practices from the field, developing methods, activities, projects and strategies in how to successfully communicate sustainability goals when working with young people.
With this project, which was not only in line with the Erasmus+ programme, but also with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, we were not only raising awareness among the young people about sustainable systems, but help them understand sustainability as the product of a complex system, that starts with personal and collective attitudes.
17 - 24 November, Korneuburg, Austria
This project was designed as a training course with the aim of empowering youth workers by giving them the opportunity and access to solutions and support when they feel powerless. The project was based on sharing experience and developing cooperation networks to address challenges and opportunities of youth work in disadvantaged communities.
